DO NOT Use CirtexHosting

(I posted this on their forum, but here it is again.)

I've been with cirtexhosting for two or three years, and maybe the only reason I haven't switched is because I've been busy. I've recommended clients in the past, but I no longer would recommend cirtexhosting services to anyone looking for "quality" web hosting.

Sure, there have been the usual hosting woes, downtime and maintenance, DDoS attacks, etc. That isn't what bothers me, since that happens at any web host. It's the lack of support and the overall lack of concern for my account and services.

It all started when they outsourced their support, I think. I used to be able to communicate with helpful friendly people on the live chat. Now it's a chore just to dumb down and explain my situation. For example, on a number of my Drupal sites I'm getting permission denied on some files when I try to delete them. Looking in cPanel and FTP, it shows that my username is not the owner of the files anymore. So what did I do? I contacted support, and tried explaining to them that my file permissions needed to be reset because somehow I lost ownership of them. Apparently that was too big of a problem. I believe I submitted a ticket as well, still never was fixed.

One day all my sites and client sites went offline from multiple locations. I couldn't login to cPanel or FTP. The server was online, however. After contacting support they told me my entire account was 'accidentally' deleted. I will give that support member credit for being able to restore my site from a backup, though I lost a few days worth of files, no big deal since I got most of it back. However, ever since then I've had many problems with my account and I've contacted support about it multiple times.

One of those problems was that my cronjobs were gone. Just readd them right? I did. Multiple times. My cronjobs were simply not saving from my account. No matter how many times cPanel told me they were saved, I'd go back to the page and they were gone (and it was clear from my sites that cron was not running.)

I contacted support again, asking them why my cronjobs were not saving. This was the worst customer service experience I've ever had from cirtexhosting. I tried explaining to them and they just didn't get it. Finally the support person says "is there anything else I can help you with?" my response was "well no but you didn't fix my problem." The support staff replied "thank you for contacting cirtexhosting, have a nice day!" and disconnected. It was like they left in the middle of me trying to get help.

So what I'm saying is, yes cirtexhosting seems swell and perfect for the price. But I'm telling you is it's not worth the trouble. I'm sure some of you have had great experiences on cirtexhositng, and I don't doubt you. But after so much trouble with this company, I'm looking to switch my hosting to somewhere else. I just need something more reliable and with better support.

I've tried and tried to get through all of these problems and stick with cirtex, but sadly I'm just pushed over the edge by the slowness of both cPanel and my sites. Sitting on a university network, it shouldn't take cPanel 4 minutes to load the page. It shouldn't take 30 seconds for a static HTML file to load on my site. It's time to switch, and I seriously caution any of you from buying hosting from this company.
